Most of you know that MDREN is planning a major upgrade over the next few years. An RFP was completed in December 2023 with the assistance of Salisbury University. The committee chose Arista as the solution vendor and Tech Gardens as the VAR for the router level refresh. We expect to issue a purchase order through College Park very soon. Current product delivery dates are about six months after the issuance of the PO. The MDREN will be working with the vendor on a deployment plan and will keep members informed. Our goals include upgrading existing equipment and positioning the network to increase throughput for all members to 100GB. Our engineers are talking with several vendors about the optical layer upgrade. An RFP for this phase will be released at the end of the spring semester.
